Another successful Green Aruba Conference has concluded
The organizers of the Green Aruba Conference are very satisfied with the conclusion of yet another successful event. The 8th edition of this 3 day conference was filled with presentations, panel discussions and knowledge exchange on sustainable development, new ‘green’ technologies, environmental aspects of economics.
A wide range of professionals of different sectors participated in the workshops and week activities. It must be mentioned that among the participants, this year’s program was a very attractive and solid that encompassed fundamental points of interest.
Green Aruba together with ‘Caribbean Electricity Utility Services Corporation’ (CARILEC) hosted this year’s conference. Once again this event had participants from different Caribbean islands impressed at the progress that Aruba has made in sustainable development, hoping to take this example back to their respective countries and also the participants were able to interchange their experiences as well.
The first conference day had a full schedule of side activities, sessions and workshops like the ‘Green vs. Green’ workshop where leading professionals from different industries together with students were made aware of the challenges of maintaining an adequate balance to the ideal energy ‘mix’. Ideal to make our island more sustainable, but at the same time offer a more reliable service and at an affordable price for our community. Different groups also indicated that nature conservation is an important aspect of reaching the ideal mix.
The ‘Knowledge in Motion’ workshop emphasized the importance of creating a high degree of reliability & tranparency between the different sectors to make way for succesful knowledge exchange.
Furthermore, this year it was remarkable that not only professionals working in the energy sector participated in these activities, but also professionals working for the tourism industry and in the field of education among others.
Another main atraction to the conference was the presentation of NASA’s “Science on a Sphere”, both adults and gradeschool students attended to get a 360 degree perspactive of our globe.
The ‘Green Aruba Conference’ team together with CARILEC closed the conference by anouncing that the total proceeds of an art auction that took place during the two days of this event exceeded US$35.000.
This highlighted one of the special aspects of the conference this year, which is solidarity and helping Caribbean islands affected by hurricanes Jose, Irma & Maria.
The 8th edition of the ‘Green Aruba Conference’ with the theme “Sustainability in Motion” was organized by Utilities Aruba N.V. together with CARILEC and its founding partners.
